The Overton window is gone..

The core issue is that the entire American political spectrum has been dragged to the right.

The old Republican party is gone, completely captured by the MAGA movement. This new bloc is trending hard towards authoritarianism and uses fascist rhetoric, even if the ultimate goal for its leadership is just lining their own pockets. They've shifted the Overton window so far that there’s now a fringe of actual neo-Nazis (who have always existed )who attack MAGA for not being extreme enough with their measures and implementation of what they want..

In this new landscape, mainstream Democrats have become the de facto center-right. They are the party of the status quo, representing corporate interests. The actual Left people like Bernie,AOC, etc, who fight for systemic change are a small marginalized faction within their own party.

TL;DR: The main political forces aren't just "liberals vs. conservatives" anymore. It's a conflict between:

The Far-Right Fringe (ideological fascists)

The MAGA Authoritarian Bloc (the new GOP trending further to the right each day)

Corporate Centrists (mainstream Democrats)
