To put it simply, a protocol is just a set of rules for exchanging info. Within computer networking, it’s like defacto standard communication methods. Among the most commonly used protocols (as you mentioned) are TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol). () UDP (User Datagram Protocol).
The Various ports can be seen as (channels) which can be used concurrently to support bi-directional communication and more complex connections in computer networking.
An analogy can be made as follows: Ports are like different types of passageways for ships to enter and leave. The ships themselves and how they function physically are like protocols.
